EX: A Prologue

Architectural Festival (in short, Archifest) is an academic-related university program in UiTM that acts as catalyst for inception of fresh and creative ideas among its students. In other words, the festival allows the participants to loosen themselves up a little, linger around and have some fun, yet doing so in a wide architecture spectrum.

Interestingly, as the tradition of organising Archifest is passed down from the seniors to the next batch each semester, it encourages the former to exchange their knowledge as well as experiences with the latter. Each batch would try their best to mould Archifest into their own by having different themes and purpose.

The trend continues with our batch, the current Bachelor Science 07 students, with the selected theme EXPRESSION.Our main goal is to encourage the students to confidently express themselves by providing the freedom of choosing their own methods of representation.

With such objectives in mind, the Archifest Expression had a list of programs lined up to let the architecture students defining their own "expression". There are also competitions assigned for every participating studio, and the winning entries would be awarded with prizes. As such, the official schedule of the programs are as follows:

7th Oct - Opening Night >> "Exclusiv"

8th Oct - Battle of the Band >> "Clash of the Icons"

14th Oct - Movie Night >> "The Golden Ticket"

15th Oct - Archiday >> "Extasy" and Exhibition

Performance & Closing Night >> "Glow Nite"

Joint Collaboration

The Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY) is a registered society which had their focus on providing medical relief, sustainable health related development and risk reduction activities for vulnerable communities in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Previously, MERCY had responded to the aid of affected people in the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar, Tsunami disaster in Japan, Israeli offensives in Gaza and many others.

Realising the good opportunity to help and influence many people, we are inspired to launch a charity donation program during the Archifest Expression. The donation would then be handed directly to MERCY representatives into their fund. The Archifest Expression thus will be the pioneer event of the first ever joint co-operation between MERCY and UiTM, or in particular with FSPU to openly express our support to the missions of MERCY.

It is hoped that after this, many other faculties in UiTM would step forward and join forces with MERCY or any other non-government organization (NGO) towards shaping a united society with true intention of helping others, regardless of race, religion, culture or boundaries.

***Archifest Expression has been successfully launched on 7th October 2011, with its Opening Night Exclusiv. Stay tuned for our recap of the event! =)
